Sri Aurobindo International School, Hyderabad

Sri Aurobindo International School, Hyderabad was established in 1965 at Hyderabad, India. The school provides education to 1200 students from Kindergarten to 12th standard. It has the faculties of Humanities, Sciences, Languages, Technology, and Physical Education, and facilities for learning drawing, painting, handwork, music and dance, dramatics, and arts and crafts. There are facilities for practical and manual work with a library and several laboratories.

The school is affiliated to the ICSE . The school is co-ed and the medium of education is English.

History

Sri Aurobindo International School, Hyderabad, is a part of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, serving as a field of experiment and research in education. For years Sri Aurobindo considered the formation of an Education Centre as one of the best means of preparing the future humanity to manifest upon earth a divine consciousness and a divine life. To give a concrete shape to his vision, and to fulfill one of its main objectives of promoting education in the light of Sri Aurobindo’s vision of man and society, the Institute of Human Study established the Sri Aurobindo International School in 1965 at Hyderabad.

Prefectorial System

Each year, a prefectorial body is set up to help proper functioning of the school body. The board consists of the School Captain at the top with a deputy Vice-Captain to assist. They lead a group of prefects, including high post holders like the school games captains, the house captains and captains of other activities, along with the other prefects. The students of class 10 hold the majority of the posts. The students are nominated to the posts after meetings among the principal, vice-principal, senior teachers and the physical training department and student voting. After this, a final list is prepared and the post holders are announced during the morning prayer assembly.

The school has four houses

Students are divided into these houses and participate in Inter House competitions.

Facilities

The school has two blocks: the Primary school block, and the High school block which also houses the Principal’s office, the Vice-Principal’s office, the staff room, the assembly courtyard and class rooms. There are also Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer laboratories. There is a cafeteria/dining hall.
